King Arthur sinks at US box office
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is 'on course' to become the worst performing film of the year so far, after a 'disastrous' opening weekend at the box office.
The film pulled in less than $45m worldwide against its estimated budget of $300m. The film, directed by Guy Ritchie and featuring a cameo from David Beckham, opens in the UK on Friday.
A rumoured film franchise will now be scrapped. Makers Warner Bros had planned six films with British actor Charlie Hunnam, 37, in the lead role but the £135m first installment made just £12m in its opening weekend at the US box office and insiders are predicting a £100m loss.
