Michael Douglas: I made mistakes
Michael Douglas has apparently admitted he was to blame for his temporary split from wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, because he took her for granted.
The 69-year-old actor - who separated from the 44-year-old actress, with whom he has two children, for several months in 2013 - was speaking at the 42nd AFI Lifetime Achievement Award Tribute Gala, honouring Jane Fonda in Los Angeles.
According to The Sun on Sunday, Michael reflected on what he has learned from life in his speech, and spoke about how he had taken the person "closest to me for granted".
The Wall Street star was quoted as saying: "First you have to admit that you made a mistake, then dealing with it is easy. Of course it's important to make mistakes, as long as you grow from them.
"When you're older you focus that energy on the people closest to you, on your family."
The actor - who has battled through cancer - also revealed that he recently injured himself at his son's bar mitzvah.
He said: "I'm hurting. I don't know whether it's my groin or a hernia.
"I got carried away at my son's bar mitzvah this weekend. You know they put you up in the chairs over the top - I think something happened there."
