New Ben Affleck movie flops at US box office
Ben Affleck's new thriller, Live By Night has had a poor opening weekend at the US box office.
The 1920s set crime thriller, which Affleck also directed and produced, earned just $5.4m over the three day weekend but had a production budget of $65m.
Elsewhere, Martin Scorsese's new movie Silence, starring Andrew Garfield, also opened to disappointing figures. However, musical La La Land starring Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone had a very strong weekend following its haul of seven Golden Globes last week, earning $20.5m at the box office over three days.
And new fact based period drama Hidden Figures, about three black women who helped the America advance the space race at NASA also performed well at the box office, taking in $20.5m over the weekend.
